Radmila Petrović, born in 1996 in Užice, Serbia, is one of the best-known poets in the former Yugoslavia. Her texts appear in anthologies and magazines. She has published three volumes of poetry, most recently “My Mom Knows the Kind of Things that Happen in Cities” (PPM Enklava 2020). The volume was shortlisted for all relevant poetry prizes in Serbia and has been translated into several languages. Radmila Petrović’s themes are the human relationship to nature, village life, family, childhood traumas and female perspektive on wars waged by men.

Writing Class addresses classism, which over the last decade has been debated in the German-language literary discourse, especially in relation to various forms of autobiographical essays. For the first time, we are bringing a number of poetic positions on this debate, which has also been held in international poetry for years, to the big stage. Four poets have been invited who approach this topic in very different manners:
