Kim Hyun (c) Kang Min Gu

Kim Hyun, born in Cheorwon, Province Gangon-do in the North of South Korea, is a poet and essayist. In his texts oscillating between prose and poetry Kim tries to free the poetic form through sub- and popculture, queerness and science fiction. His first poetry collection was translated to English by Suhyun J. Ahn and Archana Madhavan under the title “Glory Hole” (Seagull Books 2022). Since then, Kim has published several poetry collections including “낮의 해변에서 혼자” (HyundaeMunhak 2021, Eng.: Alone at the Beach During the Day). He has also co-authored a feminist novel collection, a queer novel collection and a young adult queer anthology. Kim has received the Kim Jun-sung Literature Award and the Shin Dong-yup Prize for Literature.
