Kirils Ēcis (c) Henrijs Laķis

Kirils Ēcis, born 2000 in Riga, is a writer based between Vienna and Riga working in the field of “expanded literature”. He melts together language with a diverse range of media like sound, video, performance and sculpture. He is co-creator of the Latvian literature bookazine ĶĪLIS. His poems have been published in the online magazines Satori and Punctum. Ēcis is one of the seven poets who is included in the young poet anthology “Kā pārvarēt niezi galvaskausā“ (Valters Dakša 2020, Eng.: How to Overcome Itch in The Skull) compiled by Artis Ostups. He writes in Latvian and English.

A meeting of two generations is taking place during this poetry talk: Kirils Ēcis (born 2000 in Riga) is the youngest poet of the international program and Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir (born 1987 in Reykjavik) is one of the most important voices in Icelandic poetry. What unites their poetic practices is a love of experimentation and the use of different artistic disciplines.
