Poets Atefe Asadi (born 1994 in Tehran, Iran) and Mariam Meetra (born 1992 in Baghlan, Afghanistan) engage in a poetic dialogue with the exhibition “It’s Just a Matter of Time” at the PalaisPopulaire. Their poetic intervention centers on the installation “For, In Your Tongue, I Cannot Fit” by Shilpa Gupta.

This installation features 100 metal-cast books, each representing a poet from the 8th to the 21st century who faced censorship and repression by the state—among them Ossip Mandelstam, Mahjoub Sharif, and César Vallejo. Having themselves experienced restrictions and suppression of free expression in their home countries, Atefe Asadi and Mariam Meetra respond to the installation through their own poetry.
