The Afghan poet Karima Shabrang has written five volumes of poetry, which have been honoured with various literary awards. The Afghan Voice Agency, the first media agency founded after the fall of the former Taliban regime, published a documentary film about poetry made by Karima Shabrang in 2019. Shabrang, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Persian Language and Literature from Kabul University, has worked as a teacher of Persian literature, a teacher trainer for a non-governmental organisation and a gender consultant for various organisations in Kabul. She was persecuted for her open treatment of eroticism and female lust in her poems and has recently been living in exile in Berlin.
