Sehic, Faruk (c) Jasper Kettner

Faruk Šehić was born in 1970. Until the outbreak of war in 1992, Šehić studied Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb. After the war he turned to literature. The literary critics regard him as the voice of the so-called mangled generation. Among others, his awards include European Union Prize for Literature 2013 and XXXI Premio Letterario Camaiore – Francesco Belluomini 2019 (Premio Internazionale). His books are translated into dozens of languages. Two books are translated into the German language: “Abzeichen aus Fleisch” (translation: Hana Stojić, Edition Korrespondenzen 2011), and short stories collection “Uhrwerkgeschichten” (translation: Elvira Veselinović, Mimesis Verlag 2020). Faruk Šehić is based in Sarajevo. He lives temporarily in Berlin regarding DAAD fellowship for writers.
