Virginia Pesemapeo Bordeleau, born in Jamésie, Québec, is a multidisciplinary artist and Eeyou. She has been exhibiting her art in Quebec, Canada, Mexico and Europe for over 40 years. In 2006, she received a regional Prix d’excellence from the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec and the Mention Télé-Québec for her poetry. In 2012, she was awarded the Prix littéraire of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Since 2007, she has published 3 novels, 3 volumes of poetry, 1 book of stories, 1 essay and 1 art book. Some of her texts have already been translated into German. In 2021, she received the medal of the Assemblée nationale du Québec for her complete works. In 2024 she received an honorary doctorate from the University of Moncton.
