Rabab Haidar, a Syrian Author and translator, experienced the Syrian revolution firsthand, an event that deeply influenced her writing. Her first novel, “Land of Pomegranates,” was published in Damascus in 2012 amidst the revolution that transformed into a war. This tumultuous period in her homeland became the backdrop for her writing, which she describes as “an act of surviving and remembering.” Her texts, tales, and prose pieces narrate the world during times of uncertainty, loss, and fear, exploring the strength that fragility holds. Her 2017 text titled “a report that will not be sad about war” drew attention and was published in Germany with Weiter Schreiben and die Zeit 10 nach 8. In 2019, she received the Heinrich-Boell residency for Writers, which led to her relocation to Germany, where she currently resides in Berlin.
